You will be responsible for managing the production planning process from start to finish, ensuring that production timelines, inventory levels, and supply chain activities are carefully coordinated. You will play a key role in relieving the design team from operational tasks, allowing them to focus entirely on their creative process.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in production planning, inventory management, and supply chain coordination, ideally within the fashion industry, with a focus on both eastern and western garment production.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning:
- Develop and manage production schedules, ensuring that timelines and deadlines are met for new product development and ongoing orders.
- Coordinate with manufacturers, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and finished goods.
- Anticipate and plan for any delays, bottlenecks, or challenges in the production process, proactively resolving issues as they arise.
Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory levels, ensuring the availability of raw materials and finished products in line with production needs.
- Implement systems to track stock levels and monitor consumption rates.
- Work closely with the supply chain team to avoid both overstock and stockouts, balancing inventory effectively to meet demand without excess.
Supply Chain Coordination:
- Manage and optimise the supply chain for, ensuring smooth transitions from sourcing to production.
- Liaise with external suppliers, manufacturers, and logistics teams to ensure all production materials are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
- Collaborate with the design team to forecast production needs based on upcoming collections and product launches.
Design Team Support:
- Act as the primary point of contact between the production process and the design team, allowing designers to focus on creative tasks without worrying about production or inventory issues.
- Ensure designers are informed about production timelines and inventory availability, enabling them to make design decisions based on real-time production capabilities.
Production Monitoring:
- Continuously monitor the progress of production, ensuring quality and efficiency standards are maintained.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with production facilities and vendors to ensure all processes are aligned with the brand’s standards.
- Maintain detailed records of production processes, timelines, and outcomes.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Create detailed production and inventory reports for management.
- Analyse production data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide recommendations to improve production workflows and streamline operations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Graduation in Fashion or Textile designing having a strong flair of production planning.
- Proven experience as a Production Planner or similar role, ideally within the fashion industry.
- Strong understanding of garment production processes, materials, and styles.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, supply chain coordination, and production planning software.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design, sourcing, and production.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, while also being an effective team player.
- Experience in managing production timelines, budgets, and vendor relationships.
- A background in fashion design, merchandising, or a related field is a plus.
