Fashion Design Associate APPLY NOW
This position is responsible for working on design, production and liaising with client advisory team. Core responsibilities include new product development in a timely manner, product strategy for regional and international markets, processing of orders, overseeing production and costing related tasks for processing client orders as well as processing new product development. This position is also the point person between internal departments (of operations and client services) as well as point person for external vendors, closely monitoring production from PO (purchase order) placement to receipt in the warehouse to ensure product is ready by the designated date each month. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of the product, raw material and managing production workload.
How you will contribute:
- DESIGN
- Create seasonal mood boards with Design Team and Managing Partner
- Develop colour palettes for each seasons (regional and international markets)
- Create new products each season true to Zuria Dor’s brand DNA
- Produce sketches, preferably digital (hand drawn is acceptable too), to present to the Creative Director for range selection
- Be considerate of current and previous product performance
- Research existing trends within Zuria Dor’s archive and develop new potential commercial styles for the collection
- Identify new product areas to complement Zuria Dor’s product offerings
- Regularly review and analyse what makes Zuria Dor ‘best sellers’, likewise, understand why a product might be underperforming
- Visit relevant fabric/trims vendors in the market and oversea to source materials to include in upcoming collections
- Source new fabrics and trims for each season
- Create technical packs for selected designs with specification sheets
- Attend design/fit meetings
- Establish and manage the content and size of the collection during development, editing where necessary to produce options required
2. PRODUCTION
- Daily review of manufacturing timelines
- Work closely with the larger design team day to day in ensuring and overseeing development of new orders and/or new collections
- Review accuracy on fabric used, fabric costs, trim costs, embellishing costs, etc.
- Schedule and oversee dyeing timelines
- Coordinate with Inventory Controller and Operations to release fulfilments
- Calculating sample make price from prototype stage according to target margin
- Active participation in new design fits; proposing finishing’s, trims and ensuring the communication flows between the different production teams
- Knowledge and understanding of technical specification sheets
- Responsible for ensuring end to end completion of orders and quality checks
3. DAILY COMMUNICATION WITH INVENTORY CONTROLLER
- Maintain communication about new orders, fulfilments, open issues and deliveries
- Work with inventory controller to receive and update material content in the system
- Work with inventory controller on mitigating delay risks and monitor them for on time delivery
- Ensure Company SOPs are being followed
4. ISSUE/MAINTAIN PURCHASE ORDERS WITH OPERATIONS
- Collaborate with Client Advisory and Operations to receive orders on time
- Ensure Operations issues production purchase orders on time via SAP B1
- Ensure Operations submits purchase orders to vendor on time
- Evaluate and update production delivery dates - alert cross functional teams of potential issues
- Ensure SAP B1 item coding is being maintained
5. TRACK DELIVERIES OF ORDERS AND SAMPLE ORDERS
- Communicate with Inventory Controller to obtain most up-to-date delivery dates of raw material procurement
- Report quality or delivery issues of raw material by providing details
- Review production report and ensure timely production and coordination between all departments
- Communicate delivery status/changes to business units
6. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ad Hoc and weekly/monthly recaps
- Participate in bi-monthly production meetings
- Run monthly cross category vendor performance report and call out outliers and review with each category
- Issuance of ad hoc reports as required by manager
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelors in Fashion Design/Textile Design
- Strong technical aptitude and understanding of garment production
- Comfortable with managing production teams
- Strong Excel and problem solving skills
- Strong communication and project management skills
- Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively with other groups, as necessary
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing and fast-paced environment
- Passion, energy and enthusiasm to drive results with a team-oriented approach
